Day 1-Savannah, Georgia

A morning departure has you heading into the genteel South and Savannah, Georgia. Upon arrive stop at stop at Savannah's River Street District for lunch on your own, then meet your guide for a 2-hour tour of one of the largest restored National Historic Landmark Districts in the nation. You will see restored 18th and 19th century buildings on the waterfront, where cotton warehouses are now restaurants, hotels, and shops. This beautiful eloquently displays exquisite ironwork, ancient cobblestones, splendid mansions and picturesque cottages. Visit the Savannah History Museum, housed in the old Central of Georgia Railway passenger shed and dating to the 1850s. The museum is now home to more than 10,000 artifacts including Forest Gump's bench, one of Johnny Mercer's Oscar Awards, and a carriage owned by the family of Girl Scouts founder, Juliette Gordon Lowe. This evening, you will enjoy a family-style dinner at Food Network personality, Paula Deen’s The Lady & Sons Restaurant, followed by check into your hotel and a restful evening.

Day 2-Golden Isles, Georgia

Depart for the Golden Isles of Georgia. Arriving on St. Simons Island, you’ll meet your guide for a 2-hour tour. Your guide will lend insight into the history of the island, which was founded in the 1600’s by Spanish explorers with brief stops at Christ’s Church and Ft. Frederica. At the conclusion of your tour, you will have plenty of time to explore the quaint shops and eateries in St. Simons Island Village. In the afternoon, continue to historic Jekyll Island for a guided tour of this island whose history began in 1886 when it was purchased by a number of wealthy families to be used as a private winter retreat. This was the winter home of the Rockefeller's, Morgan's, and many more captains of industry. Their gathering place was the renowned Jekyll Island Club, and it was reputed that its membership represented over one-sixth of the world’s wealth during this time period. You are welcome to explore the Jekyll Island Club Hotel on your own after the tour. Dinner will be arranged in the area this evening before returning to Savannah.

Day 3-Beaufort, SC

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before checking our and departing for nearby South Carolina and a guided tour of Historic Beaufort. Considered one of the most aristocratic cities in America before the Civil War, the “Queen of the Carolinas” is the picture of southern life with moss-draped trees, antebellum homes and quaint shops. It has also been used as a backdrop for such famous films as “Forest Gump”, “The Great Santini” and “The Big Chill”. There will be time for lunch your own in the downtown area, before departing for home with fond memories of Savannah, Golden Isles & Beaufort!
